Start with the job of the tag
Decide whether the tag introduces the brand, carries product information, provides pricing space or combines those tasks. Keep important details readable at the actual printed size.
Size and stock
Specify finished dimensions and shape. Discuss stock type and thickness together with the desired look and handling. A thicker tag is not automatically more suitable if it needs to bend, fit small packaging or carry a particular finish.
Front and back artwork
Provide both sides and identify the orientation. Keep essential text away from cut edges and hole positions. Bleed and safe-area requirements should be confirmed for the production method rather than guessed from an unrelated printer’s template.
Holes and attachments
Show the hole position and state whether cord, string or another attachment is needed. Consider how the tag attaches to the garment without damaging it or covering important information.
Proof carefully
Review spelling, barcodes, product codes and all variable information before approval. If a barcode or QR code is part of the design, test a printed sample at its intended size and confirm the data it should contain.
