Match the information to the label
A main brand label, a small hem tab and a care label do different jobs. Start with the amount of information, the position on the garment and the appearance required. One construction does not need to serve every label in a collection.
Woven construction
Woven labels form the design using threads. They can create a distinctive textile finish for a brand name or logo. Legibility depends on the weave, yarns, contrast, dimensions and artwork. Review the actual design rather than assuming every fine detail will reproduce unchanged.
Printed construction
Printed labels apply artwork onto a chosen label material. They can suit branding and information layouts, including composition or care details. Material, ink system and the intended wash conditions need to be considered together.
Think about comfort and placement
The edge finish, fold and sewing position affect comfort as well as appearance. Tell us whether the label sits at the back neck, side seam, waistband or a hem. Provide the garment’s material and intended use where relevant.
Compare complete specifications
A meaningful price comparison includes the label size, material, colour requirements, folds and quantity. Request a recommendation based on your artwork and placement instead of choosing only from product names.
For a clothing range, using woven branding together with a separate printed information label may be practical. The final choice depends on your own product requirements.
